What Is Sui?
Sui is a delegated proof-of-stake Layer 1 blockchain designed for fast execution and scalable application building. It stands out for its object-centric architecture and ability to process many transactions in parallel rather than forcing everything through a single serial path.
What Can You Do With Sui?
SUI can be used to pay gas fees, stake with validators, participate in governance, and interact with applications built on the Sui network. Its token design also supports liquidity across the broader Sui economy.
How Much Is One SUI Worth?
SUI's price changes continuously with market activity. Check our platform for the live SUI price before you buy or sell.
When Did Sui Start?
Sui Mainnet launched publicly on May 3, 2023. At launch, SUI became the native token used for transactions, gas, and network security.
Is Sui a Good Investment?
SUI may appeal to buyers who want exposure to a newer Layer 1 ecosystem built around performance, staking, and developer adoption. The long-term case depends on real application usage, network activity, and whether Sui's architecture continues to attract builders and users.
Sui treats everything as an object, and that is the whole design
Most chains keep a global ledger of balances and process transactions in an order everyone agrees on. Sui models state as discrete objects, each with an owner. If a transaction only touches objects you own — sending someone a coin, for instance — there is nothing for the network to order and it can be finalised almost immediately, bypassing consensus entirely. Only transactions touching shared objects, like a liquidity pool everyone can trade against, need the full consensus path. That split is why simple Sui transfers are close to instant.
The storage fund pays for tomorrow's disk space
Storing data on a blockchain forever is a cost somebody has to carry, and most networks handle it by charging the person who writes the data once and hoping validators absorb the rest. Sui charges a storage fee up front into a fund that pays future validators for keeping that data available, and refunds part of it if the data is later deleted. It is an unusually explicit answer to a problem most chains leave implicit, and it means SUI has a use beyond gas and staking.
