Head to head
Kraken vs Anytime Capital
Kraken is the exchange traders respect: founded in 2011, never breached, built around the Kraken Pro order book, and unavailable in New York by its own choice. Its simple app is a different animal, stacking a card fee of about 3.75% on a 1% Instant Buy fee and a spread. Anytime Capital is a U.S. money services business that serves customers worldwide, with card pricing from 4% and the spread included, cash and same-day wire, a phone number, and an Atlanta branch. Here is the honest breakdown.
- Card orders from 4% all in, versus about 3.75% plus 1% plus spread on Kraken's app
- Cash in branch, cash by mail, Cash App and same-day wire that Kraken does not offer
- Call (470) 748-2530; Kraken tells you any phone number you find online is a scam

Quick answer
Which is better, Kraken or Anytime Capital?
Buying with a card, Anytime Capital is one all-in number: from 4% with the spread included, with the amount you pay and the crypto you receive shown before you confirm, against Kraken's Instant Buy stack of about 3.75% card processing plus a 1% fee plus a spread. Anytime Capital serves customers wherever they are and adds cash, same-day wire, Cash App, an OTC desk, a phone line, a branch, an FDIC-insured cash account with a virtual debit card, and delivery to a wallet you control. Kraken is the stronger choice if you will trade on the Kraken Pro order book, want staking or margin, or value its fifteen-year security record and proof of reserves.

- Anytime Capital
- Kraken
Anytime Capital: Apple Pay, Google Pay, Debit card, Credit card, ACH bank transfer, Wire transfer, Cash App, Cash in branch, Cash by mail, each priced as one all-in number from 4% on card orders with the spread included. Kraken: 5 of those rails, priced a card processing fee of about 3.75% on debit card, Apple Pay and Google Pay purchases, on top of a 1% Instant Buy fee and a spread, with network fee on crypto withdrawals; free ACH cash-out, a small fee on Fedwire withdrawals. Both exclude blockchain network fees. As of September 2026.
What Kraken is, and what it is not
Kraken opened in 2011 in San Francisco and is one of the few exchanges from that era still standing. It has never suffered a major breach of its own systems, it has published proof-of-reserves attestations since 2014, and its parent, Payward, filed confidentially for an IPO in late 2025. It serves customers in more than 190 countries and lists several hundred assets. The SEC sued it in 2023 over its staking product and later as an unregistered exchange; both matters ended, the second dismissed in March 2025.
The product has two faces. Kraken Pro is an order book with a published maker and taker schedule, and it is where Kraken's traders live. The Kraken app's Instant Buy is a card checkout that layers a processing fee of about 3.75% on a 1% trade fee and a spread, and it is the price most beginners actually pay. Kraken is custodial, so coins sit in Kraken's wallet until you withdraw, and its most persistent reviews describe accounts locked pending a review that only a ticket can move.
Anytime Capital is a different shape: an American money services business that serves customers worldwide, with a storefront on Piedmont Road in Atlanta, an office in Miami's One Biscayne Tower, a phone number that reaches a person, and every rail you are likely to use, including cash and same-day wire. Coins are delivered to a non-custodial wallet you control. It is not an order book. For a trader, that is a limitation. For a buyer, it is the point.
Fees: two Kraken schedules, versus from 4% all in
Kraken publishes its fees in two schedules. Kraken Pro starts at 0.40% taker and 0.25% maker and falls to 0.12% and 0.02% above $5 million of 30-day volume. ACH deposits and withdrawals are free. Fedwire and other wire fees depend on the banking partner and are generally small. Kraken+ is a subscription that waives the trade fee on app purchases, but the card processing fee and the spread stay.
The app is where U.S. beginners land, and it is priced differently. An Instant Buy carries a 1% trade fee plus a spread that Kraken says depends on size, asset, payment method and market conditions. Paying with a card, Apple Pay or Google Pay adds a processing fee that third-party reviews put at about 3.75%, so a $1,000 card order runs roughly $47.50 in visible fees before the spread. Anytime Capital's card pricing starts from 4% with the spread already in the quote, so the same $1,000 order is from $40 with one number for what you pay and one for what you receive, both shown before you confirm.
At $10,000 and above the shape of the purchase changes. Kraken Pro with an ACH deposit means waiting for the transfer to settle and placing a limit order yourself. Anytime Capital would move you to a same-day wire through the OTC desk, where you get a firm quote and a named contact. One is a trading venue. The other is a desk that settles the same day with someone to call.

Ways to pay: nine rails versus cards, ACH and wire
Kraken in the United States takes debit cards, Apple Pay, Google Pay, ACH through Plaid, and Fedwire. Credit cards are accepted only for customers outside the U.S. That is a solid list. What it lacks is a credit card rail, any cash rail, Cash App, and a same-day option for a customer who does not want to pay a card fee. Kraken also does not offer ACH withdrawals to New York residents, and several deposit and withdrawal methods are unavailable in Maine, Indiana and a handful of other states.
Anytime Capital accepts Apple Pay, Google Pay, debit and credit cards, ACH, domestic wire, Cash App, cash in person at the Atlanta branch, and cash by mail from anywhere in the country. Wires settle the same business day. If one rail is blocked by your bank, there are eight others.

Support: 24/7 chat with no number to call, versus a phone and a front door
Kraken's Trustpilot profile sits around 3.2 out of 5 across more than 8,000 reviews. The praise is for chat agents who answer at any hour and for a platform that has never been hacked. The complaints are almost entirely about holds: a withdrawal paused, an account locked pending a review, a verification stuck at the proof-of-address step. Kraken's help center says plainly that it does not publish a support phone number and that any number found online claiming to be Kraken is a scam. Voice support exists, but only as a callback from inside the app for certain issues.
At Anytime Capital you can call (470) 748-2530 during business hours and reach someone who can see your order. You can email. You can drive to 2549 Piedmont Road NE in Atlanta and sort it out across a desk. For larger orders the OTC desk gives you a named contact from quote to settlement.
More than an exchange: the account that comes with it
Kraken holds your coins and cash until you withdraw them, and its reviews show what that means when a review lands. Anytime Capital customers get an FDIC-insured cash account with a free virtual debit card, a non-custodial wallet, and buy and sell in the same app, so selling Bitcoin and spending the dollars is one login rather than an exchange, a bank and a wait. Because the coins are delivered to a wallet you control, there is no custodial balance for a later review to freeze.
When Kraken is the right call
Choose Kraken if you are going to use the Kraken Pro order book, if you want staking, margin or futures, or if you place a premium on a fifteen-year track record and proof of reserves. Do not choose it if you live in New York or Washington, because it will not let you.
