Quick answer
Which is better, CoinFlip or Anytime Capital?
For anyone buying more than pocket change, Anytime Capital costs far less: cash at the Atlanta branch or by mail is priced from 4% with the spread included, against a purchase markup CoinFlip's own U.S. terms list at 21.9%, and Anytime Capital adds wire, ACH, cards, Apple Pay and an FDIC-insured cash account with a debit card. CoinFlip wins on reach and hours: thousands of kiosks and a phone line that answers at 3am. If you need $100 of bitcoin tonight and a CoinFlip machine is on your street, that convenience is what the markup buys.

What a cash purchase costs: CoinFlip vs Anytime Capital
Published or posted fee percentages on a cash purchase
- Anytime Capital
- CoinFlip
CoinFlip: a markup over the market price built into the kiosk's rate, listed in its U.S. terms at 21.9% on purchases (4.99% when you sell), varying by machine, plus a minimum network fee of a few dollars (21.9%). Anytime Capital: from 4%, shown in full before you confirm. Both exclude blockchain network fees. Published schedules as of October 2026; confirm your exact quote in each checkout.
What CoinFlip is
CoinFlip started in Chicago in 2015 and grew into one of the largest bitcoin ATM networks in the country, with about 4,200 U.S. kiosks on its own locations page in May 2026 and machines in several other countries. The model is simple: you walk up to a machine in a gas station or convenience store, verify with your phone, feed in cash, and the coins go to a wallet address you scan. Some machines are two-way and buy bitcoin back for cash. Larger customers can skip the kiosk and use CoinFlip Preferred, an OTC desk that takes wire and ACH.
The company is registered with FinCEN as a money services business and with NMLS, and it publishes a 24/7 phone line, which most kiosk operators do not. It is also under more regulatory pressure than at any point in its history. The Iowa Attorney General sued CoinFlip and another operator in February 2025 under the state's consumer fraud law, alleging kiosks were used to move scam victims' money. The Missouri Attorney General filed a similar suit in May 2026, which CoinFlip has called meritless. In September 2026 Washington's Department of Financial Institutions issued a statement of charges seeking to revoke its licence. All three are pending as of this page's date.
Fees: 21.9% listed at the kiosk, versus from 4% with the total on screen
CoinFlip does not charge a separate line-item fee at the kiosk. Its fee is a markup built into the exchange rate on the screen, and its U.S. terms of service list that markup at 21.9% on purchases and 4.99% on sales, varying by machine, with a minimum network fee of a few dollars on top. The total is shown before you confirm, which is to its credit; it is just a large total. Several states now cap kiosk fees, so the rate in your state may be lower.
Anytime Capital prices cash the same way it prices everything else: from 4% with the spread included, one number for what you pay and one for what you receive. On $500 in cash that is from $20 here against about $110 at a 21.9% markup. On $2,000 it is from $80 against about $438. Above a few thousand dollars, Anytime Capital's OTC desk quotes a same-day wire, and CoinFlip's own desk is the fairer comparison, at a published 0.50% to 9.99%.

Limits and ID: tiers at the kiosk, one verification here
CoinFlip's ID guide sets three tiers: a phone number and name for small purchases, a government photo ID above roughly $960 a day, and a Social Security number and a call with support above roughly $3,000, with state law layered on top. California, for example, limits kiosk purchases to $1,000 a day. The tiers are there because kiosks are a known channel for scams, and they mean a larger purchase can stop partway through.
Anytime Capital verifies you once, with a government ID and a selfie online or in person at the Atlanta branch, and that verification covers buying, selling, the cash account and the OTC desk. Larger cash orders are handled across a desk or by mail with a quote, not capped by a machine.
Support and safety
CoinFlip's 24/7 phone line is a real strength, and its Trustpilot reviews, around 3.5 out of 5 across roughly 200 reviews, often thank agents by name. The one-star reviews are about accounts closed without a clear explanation and transactions that took longer than expected.
The bigger safety question with any bitcoin ATM is fraud. The FTC reported that losses to scams paid through bitcoin ATMs rose nearly tenfold from 2020 to 2023, to about $114 million, with people aged 60 and over accounting for most of it. If anyone, including someone claiming to be from a bank, a government agency or tech support, tells you to put cash into a bitcoin machine, it is a scam. At Anytime Capital, cash orders happen across a desk or with a company you can call at (470) 748-2530, and staff ask the questions a machine cannot.
When CoinFlip is the right call
Choose CoinFlip if you need a small amount of bitcoin tonight, there is a machine near you, and paying around 20% is worth not waiting. Its two-way machines are also one of the few ways to turn bitcoin into cash in hand at midnight. For anything larger, or anything you would rather do with a person, start below.
